Modi Govt Takes Back UPSC Lateral Entry after Rahul Gandhi, Chirag Paswan Protest

In a sudden U-turn the Modi government has asked the UPSC to take back advertisements for lateral entry into government jobs. The move by the UPSC was slammed by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi as being a means to reduce reservations. BJP ally Chirag Paswan also objected. The letter sent to the UPSC chairman says the decision is the Prime minister's and the new guidelines, when issued, will be "aligned with social justice principles".
