The President of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, and the Chief of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Jayant Chaudhary, are continually striving to cement their vote bank in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections. The two leaders campaigned for their party’s candidates in Kairana, Shamli district, known for its sugarcane yield. They spoke to Mojo Story about the imminent polls from their campaign raths.
Akhilesh told Mojo Story that the BJP government abandoned the citizens when they needed it the most. “The double engine government had broken every promise they had made,” he declared. People are furious and want things to change. “Iss baar, badlav ka vote hoga.” He pressed the BJP on its false promises and the progress it had made in the previous two years.
He adds the lack of beds, medicines, or treatments available during the pandemic as evidence. Young people continue to be unemployed, and the poor are becoming poorer. “Giving free rations to people was a cover-up failure.”
Despite losing two elections, RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary has stated that he will not change his ideology and switch to the BJP. “I have no choice but to stick with these people because I am answerable to them and I can’t change.” He brought up the issue of farmers, saying they want justice in the aftermath of the Lakhimpur incident and other atrocities. “Let them discuss Aurangzeb, and we’ll discuss ganna,” he stated.
Akhilesh declared, “Bahurangi Gathbandhan Ekrangi logon Ko Harayega” (the rainbow coalition will defeat the single-coloured party) as both leaders campaigned in the name of brotherhood and alliance.
