Harvey Weinstein's Sex Crime Conviction Verdict Overturned
The highest court in New York overturned Harvey Weinstein's 2020 conviction on sex crime charges, citing trial errors. In a 4-3 decision, judges ordered a new trial, pointing out flaws in the proceedings, such as admitting testimony unrelated to the charges. Weinstein, 72, previously sentenced to 23 years for rape and sexual assault in New York, also faces an additional 16 years from a Los Angeles case. His case sparked the #MeToo movement in 2017.
