Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi, 63, died in a helicopter crash amid poor weather in a mountainous, forested area. A prominent conservative figure, he served nearly three years and was expected to seek re-election. Raisi, a former chief justice, was also seen as a potential successor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
