Lynching at Delhi’s Singhu Border

The body of a 35-year-old man was found at the farmers’ protest site at Delhi’s Singhu border today. The man’s wrist and legs had been chopped off and his body was tied to a police barricade at the protest site. The man has been identified as Lakhbir Singh, a resident of village Cheema Khurd in Taran Taran, Punjab. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), the umbrella farmers’ body responsible for staging the protests, has called for an emergency meeting over this incident. SKM leader Balbir Singh Rajewal has blamed the sikh warrior clan ‘Nihangs’ for the alleged lynching. The farmers’ body has distanced itself from the incident and offered their full cooperation to the Haryana police. No arrests have yet been made with the police stating that the incident is still under investigation.
