The Union Finance Ministry announced no restrictions on joint bank accounts or nominating a partner in a queer relationship. This follows a Supreme Court order from October 17, and the RBI clarified this to banks on August 21. Earlier, in April, the government formed a committee to address LGBTQ discrimination and protect against harassment and violence.
