Sonia into RS. Priyanka in Electoral Politics?

Sonia Gandhi filed her nomination papers from Rajasthan today, ending her long stint in the Lok Sabha and making a new entry in the Rajya Sabha. Mrs Gandhi contested her first election in 1999 from the party's turf Amethi in Uttar Pradesh and from Karnataka's Bellary. She won both. In 2004, making way for Rahul in Amethi, she shifted to the Congress' second UP stronghold - Rae Bareli. since then, she has been representing the constituency in the lower house of the Parliament. Her shift to the Rajya Sabha marks the end of an era and end of electoral politics for the Congress matriarch. Sonia Gandhi is likely to pass on the baton of Rae Bareli to daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as per media reports. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who earlier took charge of UP Congress and later stepped down, will contest from the family turf of Raebareli, as per the media reports. If this happens, this would be Priyanka's first-ever election. However, in 2019, Rahul Gandhi lost Amethi, another Gandhi family turf in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
