Bihar Election: Nitish Kumar vs Tejashwi Yadav vs PK – Is Vote Chori a Real Issue? Rahul Gandhi Responds
Amitabh Tiwari breaks down Bihar’s high-turnout election, women voters’ impact, Jan Suraj’s rise, and alliance cracks in a detailed chat with Barkha Dutt.
In an in-depth conversation with senior journalist Ms. Barkha Dutt, political strategist and commentator Amitabh Tiwari, founder of VoteVibe, broke down the trends emerging from Phase 1 of the Bihar 2025 elections. With voting crossing 60% turnout, he explained why this number alone cannot predict the winner—and why the gender breakdown, especially women voters, will be key.
Amitabh highlighted that women have consistently voted in higher numbers than men in Bihar. Historically, this trend has strongly benefited Nitish Kumar and the NDA, especially due to women-oriented welfare schemes. He said a significantly high women turnout could once again give the NDA an advantage.
The discussion moved to alliance chemistry. Amitabh explained why the BJP leadership is keeping the Chief Minister question open—because one-third of BJP voters do not want Nitish Kumar as CM, and this group could shift to Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party. He also noted that Jan Suraj appeals strongly to youth and migrant voters but suffers because Prashant Kishor himself isn’t contesting and the party lacks a clear manifesto.
On the other hand, the Mahagathbandhan’s focus on “vote chori” has resonance mainly within its core Muslim-Yadav voter group. Amitabh pointed out that the opposition should have highlighted alleged irregularities from Bihar’s 2020 election instead of examples from other states.
Toward the end, Ms. Barkha Dutt concluded that the biggest factors to watch before Phase 2 will be the female vote share, Jan Suraj’s performance, and the internal friction between RJD and Congress over seat distribution.
