Bihar Elections 2025: Will PK Break the Status Quo in the Fight Against Tejashwi and Nitish? KC Tyagi Speaks
KC Tyagi defends Nitish Kumar’s integrity, rejects NDA rift rumours, and predicts a strong JDU performance ahead of Bihar’s crucial 2025 elections.
In an exclusive conversation with Ms Barkha Dutt, senior JDU leader and veteran socialist KC Tyagi—a close associate of Nitish Kumar for over five decades—discusses Bihar’s rapidly intensifying political battlefield. With the 2025 elections just days away, Tyagi firmly positions Nitish Kumar as the most credible and time-tested leader in the state, dismissing allegations of leadership fatigue and corruption.
Tyagi begins by highlighting Nitish Kumar’s “unmatched personal integrity,” stating that in 50 years no corruption case has been lodged against him. He rebuts political strategist-turned-rival Prashant Kishor’s claims that Nitish Kumar is “mentally unfit,” calling those remarks unfair and politically motivated. He also rejects comparisons between Nitish Kumar and former PM Manmohan Singh, asserting that Nitish “is no puppet and never dependent on anyone’s grace.”
On BJP’s intentions post-election, Tyagi insists that unlike Maharashtra or Madhya Pradesh, there is no alternative to Nitish within the NDA, and predicts JDU will win 70–80 seats. He dismisses speculation that Nitish could switch sides again, asserting their commitment to remain with the NDA.
Tyagi also explains why he believes Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been less visible in the campaign—claiming the Congress is unhappy with Tejashwi Yadav’s projection as the opposition’s chief ministerial candidate. He argues that Bihar remains a bipolar contest where third forces like Owaisi and Prashant Kishor will “only harm themselves.”
As the interview concludes, Ms Barkha Dutt reminds Tyagi that all his political predictions will be tested on counting day, setting the stage for a decisive and high-stakes verdict for Bihar.
