Can Prashant Kishor Create History in Bihar 2025? PK vs RJD vs NDA in the Election Battle

Historic turnout sparks fierce claims: Jan Suraj says Bihar wants change, NDA insists it has the edge. Pavan Varma says voters seek a new path.

Interviewee: Pavan Varma – National Spokesperson of Jan Suraj, senior diplomat, former Member of Parliament, and long-time associate of Prashant Kishor.

The conversation opened with Barkha Dutt asking Pavan Varma to decode the historic voter turnout in Phase 1 of the Bihar elections. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called the numbers a “clear signal” of support for the NDA, Varma strongly disagreed. He argued that such a high turnout reflects voters seeking real change, something he believes only Jan Suraj and Prashant Kishor represent.

Varma said the old alliances—the NDA and Mahagathbandhan—offer nothing new, and that Bihar’s voters, especially the youth, are turning to Jan Suraj with fresh hope. He dismissed the NDA’s claim that women voters will swing the election through Nitish Kumar’s ₹10,000 scheme, calling it “plain bribery” and insisting that women voters are too aware and too affected by unemployment and migration to be bought so easily.

On the question of Rahul Gandhi’s “vote-chori” campaign, Varma said the issue has lost momentum in Bihar after the Supreme Court allowed Aadhaar as a valid document.

Varma also strongly maintained that Jan Suraj will not enter into any pre-poll or post-poll alliance. He even predicted the party could win a majority, calling the rise of Jan Suraj “unprecedented for a three-year-old party.” He argued that BJP has avoided naming Nitish Kumar as CM because they no longer want him in the post.

In conclusion, Barkha Dutt noted that Bihar’s politics remains unpredictable—especially with Nitish Kumar—making this election one of the most fascinating battles to watch.
