India vs Pakistan: ‘Dangerous Clown’ – Munir Threatens India Again, Accusing Delhi

As tensions rise, ORF’s Sushant Sareen tells Barkha Dutt why Pakistan’s military rhetoric under General Asim Munir could backfire on Islamabad itself.

As tensions grow between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, has issued a sharp warning to India. He claimed that Pakistan would deliver a “decisive response” to any provocation, even a minor one. His remarks, made during a military address, reflected Islamabad’s hardened tone at a time of fragile regional security.

In conversation with journalist Barkha Dutt, Sushant Sareen, Senior Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), analyzed Munir’s aggressive statement. Sareen described Munir as “a remarkably foolish man” for trying to open another front while tensions with Afghanistan already rage. He said Munir’s comments reveal an “Islamist mindset” within Pakistan’s military leadership, adding that it’s more dangerous for Pakistan itself.

Sareen also warned that Munir’s rhetoric signals a willingness to target India’s population and economic centers — a worrying shift from the “gentlemanly wars” of the past. He urged India to strengthen its air defense systems and maintain strategic caution.

Reacting to remarks by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Sareen advised Indian leaders to “speak with actions, not words.” He stressed that revealing too much about military strength weakens deterrence.

Concluding the discussion, Barkha Dutt noted that while both sides display rhetorical bravado, calm and preparedness should guide India’s response amid this new wave of provocation.
