India’s War Against Terror: Honoring 26/11 Heroes at the NSG NeverEver Mumbai Memorial

NSG’s ‘NeverEver’ memorial at Gateway of India honours 26/11 heroes, martyrs, and survivors, renewing India’s pledge to never let such tragedy happen again.

The Mumbai unit of the National Security Guard (NSG), India’s elite counter-terror force known for leading Operation Black Tornado during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, held the solemn ‘NeverEver’ memorial and pledge ceremony at the Gateway of India. The event honoured the brave officers, martyrs, survivors, and all victims of the terror attack that shook Mumbai on 26 November 2008.

The discussion highlights how the NSG played a decisive role in neutralising the terrorists who carried out coordinated strikes across Mumbai, killing 164 people, including Mumbai Police icons Vijay Salaskar, Ashok Kamte, ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, and NSG Commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.
The memorial zone displayed photographs, names of the heroes, floral tributes, and candles, reinforcing the message that the city — and the country — must stay united and prepared.

As Ms Barkha Dutt notes in her concluding remarks, this memorial is not only about remembering the loss but also about renewing the national resolve: a promise that such horror must never happen again, and a salute to those who stood between citizens and terror.
