Nitish Is Returning as CM” | KC Tyagi Talks About Bihar Election, Tejashwi & Prashant Kishor
KC Tyagi calls Nitish Kumar “Bihar’s cleanest leader,” rejects alliance rift rumors, and predicts a decisive NDA victory in the 2025 Bihar polls.
As Bihar heads toward the 2025 Assembly Elections, veteran JDU leader KC Tyagi, a close associate of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, spoke exclusively with journalist Barkha Dutt about the state’s charged political landscape.
Tyagi dismissed claims of anti-incumbency against Nitish Kumar, calling him “the most credible and untainted leader in 50 years.” He highlighted Nitish’s clean record, contrasting it with other leaders facing corruption cases. Tyagi also rejected Prashant Kishor’s recent comments comparing Nitish to former PM Manmohan Singh and calling him “mentally unfit.” He said, “Nitish is active, respected, and leads with people’s trust — not by anyone’s favor.”
When asked if the BJP might replace Nitish after the elections, Tyagi firmly denied it, stating, “There can be no Shinde moment in our party. Nitish will remain Chief Minister.” He also dismissed talk of Nitish switching alliances again, asserting that JDU’s bond with NDA remains strong.
On the opposition front, Tyagi questioned Rahul Gandhi’s absence from the campaign, hinting that internal discontent over Tejashwi Yadav’s CM projection might be the reason. He further predicted that Bihar’s polls would be a bipolar contest between NDA and RJD-led alliances, leaving little space for third fronts like Prashant Kishor’s party.
Concluding the discussion, Barkha Dutt noted that the real test of Tyagi’s confident claims will unfold on November 14, when results reveal if Nitish Kumar’s political durability still holds.
