Shocking Death of 9-Year-Old at Premiere School: Criminal Negligence, Bullying or Something Else?
A family fights for justice after 9-year-old Amaira’s tragic fall at a Jaipur school. Bullying, negligence, and unanswered questions spark nationwide concern.
In this deeply emotional interview, Sahil Dave, the maternal uncle of 9-year-old Amaira, speaks to senior journalist Ms. Barkha Dutt about the shocking death of the young child at Jaipur’s prestigious Neerja Modi School. Sahil, a key family member leading the fight for justice, shares the family’s pain, concerns, and unanswered questions about the school’s role and the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
At the start, Sahil explains that Amaira repeatedly complained of bullying—both earlier and on the very day she fell from the fourth floor of the school building. He reveals that CCTV footage, which the family saw in the presence of police, shows Amaira approaching her teacher four to five times in the last hour, disturbed and seeking help. Yet, no meaningful action was taken.
The family also alleges serious negligence:
-
A child from a ground-floor class reached the fourth floor unsupervised.
-
No teacher or guard noticed her movement.
-
CCTV backups were not maintained as per CBSE rules.
-
Only selective footage was leaked while key clips remain unseen.
-
The school allegedly washed away evidence and restricted officials from entering on the same day.
Most shocking to the family, Sahil says, is that the principal and teachers never contacted them, not even with a phone call.
Toward the end, Ms. Barkha Dutt stresses that this tragedy is not just about one child. She calls for truth, accountability, and fast action, noting that bullying, lack of supervision, and institutional apathy put every child at risk.
