Was Musharraf Working for the CIA?” — Former CIA Officer’s Claim on Pakistan’s Secret Deal | USA
Kiriakou described deep divisions within Pakistan’s ISI — one faction cooperating with the U.S., and another supporting terrorist outfits. He revealed that despite clear links between Lashkar-e-Taiba and al-Qaeda, Washington chose to “strategically ignore” Pakistan’s terror ties to maintain military cooperation.
He further said the U.S. initially controlled Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal through Musharraf, who feared extremist access, but warned that Pakistan’s current instability makes such control uncertain.
Kiriakou also reflected on U.S. hypocrisy in supporting dictators like Musharraf and Saudi leaders, calling it a pattern driven by “national interests, not moral values.”
